Two years since the start of negotiations, MGEU/NUPGE members vote to accept new contract.
Winnipeg (17 April 2014) — Members of the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) who are employed by the Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre (MATC) ratified a new five-year collective agreement on April 14.
Highlights in the contract include wage and shift premium increases, improvements to bereavement leave and severance pay
The contract includes a seven per cent general wage increase by April 2016, plus an additional two per cent long service step for members with twenty or more years of continuous service. The contract also includes increases to shift premiums and improvements to bereavement leave and severance pay. The contract is effective from April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2017.
MGEU/NUPGE members have waited patiently over two years to reach an agreement. Bargaining was delayed for several months while health care representation votes took place throughout the province.
Approximately 110 MGEU/NUPGE members work at MATC.
