MGEU members honoured at excellence awards

'I would like to congratulate all award recipients this year and thank them for their contributions and commitment.' - Peter Olfert.

Winnipeg (24 June 2009) - Many members of the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) were honoured for their hard work and outstanding service at the 11th Manitoba Service Excellence Awards.

“It's important to celebrate and recognize provincial employees for the good work they do in providing valuable public services to Manitobans each and every day,” said MGEU president Peter Olfert.

“Manitoba’s success as a province is due in part to the contributions of these individuals. I would like to congratulate all award recipients this year and thank them for their contributions and commitment,” Olfert added.

At this year's awards, 229 government employees and 32 non-government employees were honoured for their outstanding efforts on behalf of Manitobans and formally recognized by their colleagues.

This year’s award recipients included:

Established through Service Quality Partners in 1998, the awards recognize the hard work, dedication and outstanding efforts of Manitoba government employees. Recipients are nominated by co-workers in recognition of their contributions as government workers and community volunteers.

The awards are sponsored by the MGEU, the Manitoba Civil Service Commission, Manitoba Organization and Staff Development, and Service Transformation Manitoba. They are a highlight of National Public Service Week.
