Management and staff will look at ways to address recruitment and retention issues.
Winnipeg (28 Sept. 2016) — On September 22, ballots were counted and members of the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) who work at Diagnostic Services of Manitoba (DSM) have ratified the employer's final offer.
New collective agreement lays groundwork for next round of bargaining
DSM was without a contract for 2 years, and ended up giving their Bargaining Committee a strike mandate on August 20, after repeated requests to the employer to return to the bargaining table went unanswered. On September 1, after a day spent at the bargaining table with the employer, the committee received a final offer from DSM and arranged ratification meetings with a recommendation to accept.
The new agreement has laid the groundwork for the next round of bargaining — set to commence in 2018 — and senior leaders from DSM and members of the union local's executive will be meeting to look for ways to address issues of recruitment and retention during the life of the agreement.
