MGEU members at Canadian Blood Services reach tentative agreement

CBS workers in Manitoba will vote on new agreement in June.

Winnipeg (27 May 2013) – During negotiations for the Essential Services Agreement last week, members of the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) were able to reach a tentative two-year collective agreement with Canadian Blood Services (CBS).

Ratification information package mailed out

A package is being sent to all members detailing all of the negotiated changes to the collective agreement, a letter from the bargaining committee recommending its acceptance, and a ballot for the ratification vote.

Vote by mail or in person

The ratification vote will be held by mail in ballot. For those unable to attend the scheduled information meetings who want to vote on the tentative agreement, the ballots must be in the mail by Friday June 7 to ensure it arrives at the union office by noon on Thursday June 13 to be counted.

Members encouraged to attend information sessions

CBS members are encouraged to attend the information sessions and may vote at the information meeting, but must bring the ballot that was sent in the mail in order to cast your vote there.

Information meetings will be held at the following times:

Brandon: June 6, 2013, 11:30 a.m.

Location: Brandon MGEU Office, 1665 Parker Blvd.

Winnipeg: June 6, 2013, 4:15 p.m.

Location: Ambassador "B" - Canad Inns, Health Science Centre, 720 William Avenue.

The bargaining committee and a union staff representative will be at both information meetings to make a presentation on the tentative agreement and answer any questions. They can also be reached through the union's Resource Centre at 1-866-982-6438.
