Kenora (1 Nov. 2011) - More than 30 workers from Kenora Association for Community Living (KACL) carrying picket signs and flags held a rally as their bargaining team negotiated through two days of conciliation on Oct. 25 and 26. The workers are members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE).
Local TV, radio and print media all came down to cover the event, adding pressure to the need for a fair outcome at the table.

The high-energy rally inspired a number of members to drive around the community with union flags on their vehicles, honking their horns in an enthusiastic show of support.
Attendees included members from a wide range of areas within the organization, from daycare workers to group home service providers and home services.
Of the 125 staff at KACL, more than half only have part-time work. As workers struggle with heavy workloads and difficult shifts, waitlists in Kenora continue to be a problem for community members living with developmental disabilities.
