Let's continue to put the health of our communities and public safety before profits. Let’s keep Churchill’s Liquor Mart public! Please sign the petition.
Winnipeg (28 Nov. 2018) — The province is shutting down Churchill, Manitoba’s only public Liquor Mart, eliminating quality jobs in this northern community.
Manitoba government throws away revenue with store closure
With Churchill’s vital rail line finally restored and tourism likely on the rise, it’s odd timing for the province to sell this public asset, particularly while the government is looking for some much-needed revenue to help fund our public services, like health care and education.
The store continues to earn a profit for Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries, but is being shut down anyway because the crown corporation says it’s not as profitable as other stores.
For many years, Manitoba's public Liquor Marts have balanced great selection and competitive pricing with social responsibility. Let’s continue to put the health of communities and public safety before profits.
Please take a moment sign the petition against closing Churchill's Liquor Mart.
