Members receive 7.9 per cent wage increase over four years through interest arbitration.
Halifax (25 Jan. 2012) - The Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union (NSGEU/NUPGE) has received the interest arbitration decision for members at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College.
The Board rejected the employer’s arguments to limit wage increases to one per cent in 2010 and 2011, and awarded increases of 2.5 per cent as of April 1, 2010 and 2.5 per cent as of April 1, 2011.
In addition they awarded increases of 2.9 per cent as of April 1, 2008 and as of April 1, 2009.
The interest arbitration dealt only with wages as the parties has already resolved all other outstanding issues through negotiations, resulting in several improvements in working conditions including new language concerning intellectual property and academic freedom.
