HSABC delegates gather for convention April 15-17

'This is an excellent opportunity for members to contribute to the future direction of the union and to represent the interests of other HSABC members.'

Vancouver (1 April 2010) - The annual convention of the Health Sciences Association of B.C. (HSABC/NUPGE) will be held April 15-17 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.

"Conventions are where chapters from around the province determine the future direction of the union," HSABC says in a notice to all members.

"Policies, actions, constitutional amendments, structural changes are all discussed and debated at convention. Members who have specific issues that they want to raise at convention are encouraged to attend their local chapter meeting. All HSABC members are welcome to attend and speak at the convention. However, only delegates have the right to vote," the union adds.

"This is an excellent opportunity for members to contribute to the future direction of the union and to represent the interests of other HSABC members."

Larry Brown, national secretary-treasurer of the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE), will address delegates as a featured speaker. He will discuss the fallout of the global economic recession on public sector workers in Canada and "the myth" that health care costs are exploding in Canada.
