'We're prepared and pleased to welcome our newest members into HSAA's growing family," says HSAA president Elisabeth Ballermann.
Edmonton (23 Feb. 2010) - Meetings will be held across Alberta beginning March 15 to welcome more than 1,000 new emergency medical services (EMS) personnel into the Health Sciences Association of Alberta (HSAA/NUPGE).
"We're prepared and pleased to welcome our newest members into HSAA's growing family," says HSAA president Elisabeth Ballermann. "HSAA is doing its best to ensure the transition of these members into our bargaining unit is as seamless a process as possible."
HSAA will hold orientation meetings for these members throughout Alberta on the following dates and locations (all meetings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.): March 15, Camrose; March 16, Edmonton; March 17, Stony Plain; April 7, Calgary and April 8, Cochrane.
The current Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) contract will remain in effect for EMS members until HSAA and Alberta Health Services (AHS) negotiate a new transition collective agreement. Any labour relations issues facing these workers, however, will be handled by HSAA labour relations officers.
Moving forward, these members are encouraged to contact their new HSAA labour relations officer should they require assistance with any work-site issues.
