Tentative agreement reached with Shoppers Drug Mart on the heels of the announcement the company will not renew its contract with Alberta Health Services.
Calgary (06 Dec. 2012) - On December 1, members of the Health Sciences Association of Alberta (HSAA/NUPGE) and the three owners of Shoppers Drug Mart outpatient pharmacies reached a tentative agreement.
This contract will give the members the majority of the Alberta Health Services/HSAA collective agreement provisions, with a term until June 27, 2014. The contract will ensure that these employees will have job security through another change in management/ownership of the outpatient pharmacies at the Foothills Medical Centre, Peter Lougheed Centre and Alberta Children's Hospital.
This settlement comes on the heels of Shoppers Drug Mart's announcement on November 26 that it is cancelling the contract with AHS to run these sites. The owners have shown that they are concerned for the future of their employees and this contract will make sure they continue to have collective agreement rights ongoing.
