The funds raised will go towards new shuttlecocks, practice spaces, tryouts for golf, bowling, orienteering, and volleyball.
Edmonton (09 July 2018) — Members of the Health Sciences Association of Alberta (HSAA/NUPGE) participated in the 2018 Alberta Health Services' Corporate Challenge this year.
HSAA/NUPGE members compete for a good cause
It was a fun event, competing against 30 other very large Edmonton and area employers. The team participated in 22 of the 26 events ranging from road race to lawn bowling, to the “Unknown Challenge.” The team achieved gold in cribbage, silver in badminton, a fourth-place finish in bunnock. They were also in the top 8 teams in many other events.
The Solidarity Committee of the HSAA/NUPGE provided $500 to help with the team's sponsorship. The funds raised will go towards new shuttlecocks, practice spaces, tryouts for golf, bowling, orienteering, and volleyball. The funding also helped pay the cost of participating in the spirit award and the scavenger hunt.
HSAA/NUPGE’s contribution was crucial for the team to compete in these games.
Some positives to bring back to the workplace are: new contacts from different AHS areas, fresh air and exercise, teamwork, the lifting of morale, confidence building, laughter and fun.
In total, there were 125 participants and approximately 30 were HSAA/NUPGE members.
