Green economy conference planned for Sept. 10-11

Organized by union and environmental groups from across British Columbia.

Vancouver (20 Aug. 2010) - The British Columbia environmental and labour movements will host a conference Sept. 10-11 in Vancouver on building a green economy.

Entitled Jobs, Justice, Climate, the conference will be confined primarily to invited guests but a general admission of those interested will take place when the keynote address is presented.

The keynote speaker will be David Foster, executive director of the BlueGreen Alliance, a U.S.-based national strategic partnership between labor unions and environmental organizations dedicated to expanding the number and quality of jobs in the green economy.

Further details will be announced in the coming days.

NUPGE is a member of the national coalition, the Green Economy Network (GEN), an organization dedicated to the following goals:

"As civil society organizations, we are committed to make every effort to inspire Canadians to join in building an economy aimed at providing good green jobs for all, so that current and future generations can meet their needs while living in harmony with each other and the ecosystems that support human life and prosperity."
