“But as we’ve seen over the past year, cuts are threatening those services and the things we all care about are starting to fall through the cracks.” — Michelle Gawronsky, MGEU President
Winnipeg (23 Jan. 2018 — Cutting civil service jobs, closing ERs, privatizing home care — the public services Manitobans depend on are starting to fall through the cracks because of government cuts and privatization. That’s the message from the latest ad by the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE).
Ad highlights how government decisions hurt services Manitobans rely on
The government is cutting 1,200 jobs in the provincial civil service that support families and ensure that water, workplaces and roads are safe. Falling through the Cracks reminds Manitobans that when the government starts cutting services, they'll feel it.
“As Manitobans, we count on our public services to be there when we need them,” said Michelle Gawronsky, MGEU President. “But as we’ve seen over the past year, cuts are threatening those services, and the things we all care about are starting to fall through the cracks.”
Manitobans will recognize the ads from the MGEU’s Keep Us Together campaign. The updated campaign will be running on TV and on the Web throughout the province over the next several weeks.
