"Every day we were thanked for listening, for focusing on solutions and for bringing people together. I'd say the tour has been a success in this province." — Felicia Fahey, OPSEU Executive Board member and Fairness Express engager.
Wawa (16 June 2014) — Six weeks, more than 35 communities, hundreds of visitors — that's what the last six weeks of the Ontario leg of the All Together Now! campaign's Fairness Express bus tour has looked like.
Ontarians open to the All Together Now! message from the Fairness Express
Conversation after conversation, in some of the unlikeliest places — like Farmers' Markets, shopping malls and waterfront parks — all focused on income inequality and the choices we have that will help make all of our lives better.
At every stop, people want to know what the Fairness Express is all about.
"People are so eager to talk about what life is like for them and their families," said Marc Casey, a staff member with the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE), who has been on the bus since the start, writing blogs and taking photos. "They want us to know how they are coping in this economy, what's happening to the public services in their community, and what they think needs to be fixed to improve life.
"Ontarians from one end of the province to the other are so happy that we were out here raising issues like tax fairness, investing in quality public services, developing good jobs and standing up for workers' rights," said Felicia Fahey, a Fairness Express engager and OPSEU/NUPGE activist. "Every day people thank us for listening, for focusing on solutions and for bringing people together. I'd say the tour has been a success in this province."
