Victoria (18 Aug. 2014)—After hugely successful tours in the Atlantic provinces, Ontario, and Manitoba, the National Union of Public and General Employees' Fairness Express is rolling west, making its way through British Columbia. Over the months of August and September, the big green buses (one in Alberta and another in British Columbia) will be reaching out to people about why we all need to be working together to fix the problem of income inequality.
The tour started in Victoria on August 16.
Engaging British Columbians in a dialogue about the need for fairness
The national tour is part of the All Together Now! campaign promoting tax fairness, public services, good jobs and labour rights. The tour is a way to connect with people across the country, where they live and work, to find out how they are coping with the economy of the post-2008 recession.
People want the chance to discuss the matters that are important to them
Families are anxious about the future, and there is a sense that those in power are not acting in the public interest. The Fairness Express provides an opportunity to build a movement of people who are interested in protecting and promoting the core value of fairness for all Canadians.
To follow the tour, or to find out when it will be in your community, check out the bus blog that will have photos, videos and stories from what Fairness Express engagers and Champions 4 Change are seeing, what they are hearing, and what they are saying about who is joining us in this movement.
We will be constantly updating the page to indicate where the bus will be so FOLLOW THE BUS! If you can't make it to a bus campaign event near you, follow @ATNcampaign or search #FairnessExpress on Twitter to find out what is going on. Or check out our regular updates on Facebook.com/ATNcampaign.
