First agreement brings improvements to wages and working conditions for home care workers.
St. John's (21 Sept. 2012) - The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE/NUPGE) is pleased to announce that members at the Exploits Homecare Agency in Grand Falls-Windsor voted unanimously in favour of ratifying their first collective agreement.
There are 40 employees working for the agency in communities from the Grand Falls – Windsor area, including Springdale, Botwood, Lewisporte, Norris Arm and Gander.
According to NAPE President Carol Furlong, in addition to an increase in wages, the agreement contains a cost shared health plan, reimbursement for travel expenses, additional sick days and the ability to take paid vacation.
The agreement is effective as of September 13, 2012 and is set to expire on June 30, 2014.
