Strike vote was taken over two days, August 20 and 21, 2012, after the employer served 72 hour lockout notice to the union.
Vancouver (24 Aug. 2012) - B.C. Government and General Employees' Union (BCGEU/NUPGE) members working for Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting Limited Partnership have overwhelmingly voted to endorse strike action in support of their bargaining committee’s efforts to reach a collective agreement.
The vote was 97 per cent in favour.
“Our members have given their bargaining committee the strong strike mandate it needs. That should send a clear message to the employer that these members are prepared to stand up for a fair and reasonable settlement,” says Darryl Walker, BCGEU President.
The strike vote was taken over 2 days, August 20 and 21, 2012, after the employer served 72 hour lockout notice to the union.
