The important work of all those who care for and support individuals with developmental disabilities is being celebrated in dozens of communities across Ontario today.
Toronto (20 Jan. 2010) - The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE) and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) are marking Worker Appreciation Day today for approximately 16,000 developmental services employees across the province.
Local events are planned at dozens of locations to celebrate the important work performed by people who care for and support individuals with developmental disabilities.

To mark the occasion the above poster has been created by artist Gilles Arsenault, a long-time labour and environmental activist who suffered a near fatal accident in 1997 that resulted in serious brain injury.
Today Gilles lives in a community living residence in Toronto. He paints at the Creative Spirit Art Centre, an art gallery and studio advancing the creative power of artists with disabilities.
