Charlottetown (04 Sept. 2012) - Debbie Bovyer has won the 2012 PEI Union of Public Sector Employees (PEIUPSE/NUPGE) Presidential election. Debbie is a licensed practical nurse with Health PEI and has worked for the past twenty-five years at the Prince Edward Home in Charlottetown. She has played an active role in the union during her career serving as an Executive Officer (Second Vice-President) and as Secretary-Treasurer, as well as Chief Steward and Director of her local.
Debbie Bovyer thanks the PEIUPSE/NUPGE membership for their support and congratulates the union’s Third Vice-President, Terry Gauthier, for running in the election and participating in the democratic process. "I look forward to working with the membership, board of directors, executive and staff of PEIUPSE/NUPGE during my upcoming term as President. By working cooperatively, we can meet key challenges and opportunities the union faces, and we can empower the membership," says Bovyer.
The interim President, Karen Jackson, congratulates Debbie Bovyer on her victory and looks forward to working with her. "I look forward to working with Debbie and am confident she will engage the membership and show strong leadership during her tenure as President. She has a wide range of experience within the union as both an activist and a leader. I wish her all the best in her new capacity as President."
The election was carried out via a mail in ballot process between August 1 and August 29, 2012.
