Debbie Bovyer takes over as PEIUPSE President

“I would like to thank the membership for placing their trust in me to represent their interests as President." - Debbie Bovyer, PEIUPSE President.

Charlottetown (05 Nov. 2012) - The Prince Edward Island Union of Public Sector Employees (PEIUPSE/NUPGE) new President, Debbie Bovyer, assumed office at the closing of the 51st Annual convention held on November 3. At convention, Debbie pledged to represent all members in a fair, open and accountable fashion.

Debbie worked as a licensed practical nurse for the past twenty-five years at the Prince Edward Home in Charlottetown and has been an active member of PEIUPSE/NUPGE for the past twenty-five years performing in a wide range of capacities from Chief Steward and Director of her local, to being the union’s Second Vice President and Secretary Treasurer. Debbie’s sustained involvement and experience in the union has prepared her to meet the challenges and opportunities that face the membership as a whole.

“I would like to thank the membership for placing their trust in me to represent their interests as President. I also want to thank all the delegates at Convention for their kind support, and the union staff for bringing me up-to-date on key issues. I believe that open communication is key to fostering productive relationships and that we must focus on building solidarity within the house of labour as we move forward.”
