'A message that government negotiators need to discuss members’ concerns, particularly about the issue of overcrowding.'
Winnipeg (8 Nov. 2010) - Correctional officers represented by the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) recently staged an impromptu information picket at the Remand Centre in Winnipeg.
"After more than 40 sessions at the bargaining table, correctional officers are disappointed by the lack of progress to date and are hoping the picket will send a message that government negotiators need to approach the table ready to discuss members’ concerns, particularly about the issue of overcrowding," MGEU says.
"Other information pickets may be staged around the province if negotiations continue to be unproductive."
