Winnipeg (16 Oct. 2018) — Yesterday, the Government of Manitoba proclaimed October 15—19, Health Care Support Services Week, and October 18, Health Care Aide Day.
Vital to day-to-day quality of health care
Health care support workers can be found throughout our health care system: in hospitals, clinics, personal care homes, chronic care, and long-term care facilities. The proclamation of this important week and day is an opportunity for Manitobans to celebrate and salute the thousands of frontline health workers who care for us each and every day.
“This week is a very special opportunity to say thank you to the often unsung heroes of health care,” said Michelle Gawronsky, President of the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE). “These hard-working people don’t always receive the recognition they so rightly deserve, but they are absolutely vital to the day-to-day quality of health care for all Manitobans.”
The MGEU/NUPGE represents over 8,000 health care support workers throughout the province.
