Ottawa (03 Feb. 2021) — The National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) is calling on the federal government to continue monitoring the situation in Myanmar, and the impacts on the Rohingya, following the military seizing power on Monday, February 1, 2021.
Larry Brown, President of NUPGE, has written a letter to Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marc Garneau.
Speaking out about the Rohingya genocide
NUPGE, with the leadership of the Advisory Committee on Women’s Issues (ACWI), has been actively monitoring and speaking out about the genocide against the Rohingya.
"The potential impacts on the Rohingya of today's military takeover, and the unrest that may follow, are of serious concern to us, and should be a priority for the Canadian government in its response," wrote Brown.
