Negotiations are over for instructors at five B.C. colleges. New contract contains improvements to wages and benefits.
Burnaby (10 April 2014) — The B.C. Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU/NUPGE) has reached a five-year tentative agreement with the Post-Secondary Employers’ Association (PSEA). This collective agreement would cover BCGEU/NUPGE instructors at five post-secondary institutions: Camosun College, Northern Lights College, Northwest Community College, Okanagan College and Selkirk College.

“This agreement provides real improvements for members,” says BCGEU President Darryl Walker. “While no agreement is perfect, we believe this tentative deal provides longer term stability and necessary gains in some key priority areas for our members.”
The tentative agreement — which covers a five-year term from April 1, 2014 through March 31, 2019 — includes wage increases, improvements to benefits, an increase in instructors’ professional development fund and more.
Over 1,000 faculty members employed by the five colleges are covered by this tentative agreement. Details of the Local and Common Agreements will be provided to members at ratification meetings which will be scheduled during the month of April.
