BCGEU negotiates new Work-Able Graduate Internship Program

This unique program provides learning, coaching and mentorship throughout the internship.

Vancouver (15 July 2016) — The B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU/NUPGE) is pleased to announce it has negotiated an agreement with the Public Service Agency to establish an internship program for individuals who self-identify as a person with a disability.

Work experience program for graduates with disabilities

Work-Able is a 12-month, paid BC Public Service work experience program for recent post-secondary graduates with disabilities. This unique program provides learning, coaching and mentorship throughout the internship. Interns gain valuable skills and public service experience.

The program is designed to support the recruitment and retention of people with disabilities.

Each internship will run for 12 months, and a maximum of 15 internships will be available per year.
