'We’re looking forward to working with employers to reach a fair settlement that improves the working lives and conditions of our members.'
Vancouver (21 Sept. 2010) - The British Columbia Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU/NUPGE) and the Health Sciences Association of B.C. (HSABC/NUPGE) and other public sector unions resume negotiations this week with the provincial government's Community Social Services Employers’ Association (CSSEA) and its member employers.
"We’re looking forward to working with employers to reach a fair settlement that improves the working lives and conditions of our members," the unions say.
"We hope the employers are willing to actively participate in collective bargaining after almost a year of talks."
The BCGEU is the lead union in bargaining with the CSSEA, which negotiates on behalf of 15,000 unionized community-based social services workers across B.C.
