LPNs have input on new regulations governing duties.
Vancouver (30 Nov. 2012) - Right now, you have a chance to have input on what kind of activities you will be able to perform as a license practical nurse (LPN) in British Columbia.
The Ministry of Health has posted the proposed new Nurses (Licensed Practical) Regulation, and is inviting comments before the Regulation is finalized and becomes law.
The proposed new regulation sets out those restricted activities which do not require an order, and those which require an order. The B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU/NUPGE) will be developing a submission that supports its members' ability to remain fully optimized and utilized in your areas of practice.
This consultation is an important opportunity to speak up for the independent professional practice of licensed practical nurses, something BCGEU/NUPGE have advocated for years.
The union is interested in hearing from members about the proposed new model. To have input into the BCGEU/NUPGE submission, please contact Anita Zaenker, Researcher by email or at 1-888-991-6062 by December 7.
