Member survey identified issues to take to the bargaining table.
Vancouver (24 May 2016) — Bargaining is underway for a new collective agreement between the Health Sciences Association of B.C. (HSABC/NUPGE) and West Coast Medical Imaging (WCMI).
Bargaining moving ahead for health professionals
The HSABC/NUPGE bargaining team began negotiations at the end of April and resumed on May 17. The committee consists of Gary Finnerty and Fran Wagner from the Lower Mainland, Lee McKellar and Jenn Frost from Victoria, HSABC staff negotiators Dani Demetlika and Gurleen Sahota and labour relations specialist Jessica Magalios. There are two days of bargaining scheduled in May, and another two days scheduled at the beginning of June.
HSABC/NUPGE surveyed all members at WCMI last winter about priorities for bargaining, and the bargaining committee developed proposals based on the issues identified by members. Bargaining opened with proposals for comprehensive changes in collective agreement language to address members’ concerns. In addition, the parties have agreed to work collaboratively to resolve the issues related to seniority of members who work as casuals.
HSABC/NUPGE represents almost 200 members working at sites in the Lower Mainland and Victoria.
