Members re-elect Component presidents in BC, Alberta and Ontario to serve again
Ottawa (11 April 2011) - Elections took place on April 8 for the top positions at three Component conventions of the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE).

In British Columbia, Reid Johnson was re-elected to lead the Health Sciences Association of British Columbia (HSABC/NUPGE) as its president for another two-year term. The union represents 17,000 health science professionals working in hospitals and communities throughout BC. This will be Johnson’s third term as President.
In Alberta, Elisabeth Ballermann was re-elected to a ninth consecutive term as president of the 21,000-member-strong Health Sciences Association of Alberta (HSAA/NUPGE).
In Ontario, members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE) re-elected Warren (Smokey) Thomas for a third term president at its 100th anniversary convention.
OPSEU/NUPGE represents more than 130,000 employees of the Ontario government, Ontario's community colleges, and broader public sector employers such as hospitals, the LCBO, ambulance services, school boards, municipalities, social service agencies and private corporations.
