Agreement ratified averting strike action at Ivany Place.
Halifax (10 Sept. 2012) - Members of the Nova Scotia Government & General Employees Union (NSGEU/NUPGE) employed by Northwood's Ivany Place have voted 94 per cent in favour of the tentative agreement reached earlier this week. This is the Local’s first collective agreement.
The members had been in a legal strike position as of September 5 after conciliation attempts and further negotiations failed to reach an agreement.
The parties returned to the bargaining table on September 4 and were able to conclude negotiations with an agreement the bargaining committee could recommend to its members.
