National Union releases a Voter's Guide factsheet on Environment and Climate Change. While each of the main political parties has something to say about action on climate change and environmental sustainability, their commitments vary in ambition.
Ottawa (26 Sept. 2019) — As the urgency of the climate crisis becomes increasingly apparent, and as young people take to the streets to demand action from their political leaders, climate change is poised to be one of the most important issues of Canada’s 2019 federal election.
We are already seeing the effects of climate change, including species loss, air and water pollution, extreme weather, and the impacts on communities as a result. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, made up of the world’s top climate scientists, has reported that we have just 11 years to act to prevent the effects of climate change from becoming even more devastating.
This election will play a significant role in determining Canada’s agenda for climate action, and therefore the state of our environment, for years to come.
The National Union has compiled the 2019 Federal Election Voter’s Guide as a resource for our membership. The guide provides an overview of key issues and of the political parties’ track records and campaign promises in these areas.
Today, we are releasing a Voter's Guide factsheet on Environment and Climate Change . While each of the main political parties has something to say about action on climate change and environmental sustainability, their commitments vary in ambition.
We encourage our members to engage with the Voter’s Guide and the accompanying factsheets to help inform their voting decisions. Lastly, we encourage members to exercise their right to vote!
