The Fairness Express is going to be on the road for another two weeks, and we are encouraging anyone who is interested in joining the conversation about fairness to drop by and see us.
Ottawa (17 Oct. 2013) - The Fairness Express, the tour that has been roaming across Canada's four Atlantic provinces talking to people about income inequality and the growing gap between the wealthy and the rest of us, is just two-thirds of the way through its tour, but it has already racked up some big numbers:
- 6,500 kilometres travelled in 27 days
- 29 different set-ups in 19 different communities
- 30 NUPGE All Together Now! Champions for Change (C4Cs) have had at least 1,800 conversations about income inequality
- 25 journalists have come out to see what the tour is all about, and have filed 22 reports about the campaign.
Atlantic Canadians share stories of struggle and hope with Fairness Express
With each passing day, it is becoming clear that rising income inequality is, as NUPGE President James Clancy puts it, “the scourge of our times.” The vast majority of the people we meet tell us that they’re struggling to make ends meet and they’re yearning for a more fair and equal shot at a content and prosperous life.
Canada can become the fair country we want it to be, but it will take effort from each of us. We have to talk about what we want with our friends, our families, and our neighbours.
